Casco App Image
"Before we had DevForce we had to think about writing code to fetch and save the data; now we can focus specifically on our client’s business problem, not the data mechanism. This project has been a great success!"
John Hamilton, Development Manager, Casco

Casco Development has been delivering production management solutions to manufacturers for over 22 years. With clients all over the world, Casco’s mission is to deliver the ideal factory employee interface with configurable, user-friendly data collection screens.

The Problem
ShopVue’s architecture was traditionally client server. The legacy architecture had limitations, like a data retrieval mechanism that affected performance. Casco was searching for a solution that was scaleable, used new technology and would run over the Internet. Additionally, new product development needed to result in a more configurable front-end solution with added security.

Why DevForce?
When searching for a new solution, Casco considered several options. One option was to hire a consultant to assist in the transition. This had a higher initial investment and would require more maintenance in the long run.

DevForce allowed Casco to develop a solid, go-forward solution where different factory workstations could support varying user requirements and screen behaviors. It was critical to have a user interface with configurable grids and lists.

Casco also needed the ability to build on an existing database, which cut the development time in half.

The Result
"Delivering an application to our clients that has a very effective operator interface – giving them the right information at the right time – makes the whole system more meaningful."
Mike Towle, Product Manager, Casco

ShopVue’s new Operator interface, Casco’s first DevForce project, has been very well received. The system has been embraced by the end user and looked upon as a critical component to increased efficiency on the shop floor. Relevant data is presented to the operators in an easy to read format, which has also increased job satisfaction and factory floor communication. The solution was delivered faster and required less coding.

Casco already has exciting ideas on how to expand usage of this framework as the company grows.
